We are incredibly proud to celebrate the official launch of Our Elders, an inspiring new book created by the talented students at Merriwa Primary School.

The book features deeply moving stories written by our senior Aboriginal students about the vital role Elders play in their lives. Bringing these stories to life, both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal classmates worked side-by-side to create the book's beautiful, vibrant artwork.

The project was officially launched at Government House by WA Governor Chris Dawson and Mrs Dawson. Developed in partnership with the WA Police Force and Yorgum Healing Services, this wonderful initiative aims to foster reconciliation, cultural understanding, and positive community connections.

Physical copies of Our Elders will be distributed to schools across the state and preserved in the State Library of Western Australia. You can also read the digital version online via the Government House website.
